Cathedral PACT
Went to last nights Cathedral – Partners And Community Together (PACT) meeting at the sub-police station at back of Guildhall.
It’s the 2nd meeting I have attended and I am impressed with how it is set-up and run. It’s a forum for local members of the community to come together discuss issues affecting them. During the meeting a consensus is built and priorities for local policing are set. Representatives on the panel include: City and County Councillors, Green Party, Residents Associations, Community Workers, Youth Workers, the Cathedral, Neighbourhood Watch, Muslim Welfare Association and of course our local police.
Current areas in focus are:
- Priority for policing remains in Lowesmoor
- 20 mph limit for Stanley Road
- Dog waste to be cleared from “dog bins” along canal path (Fair bit of red tape exists between British Waterways and City Council)
It’s a great vehicle for empowerment and part of the local community – it’s a real privilege to be part of the team.
