Again due to Covid-19 reasons we met via zoom. It was a good natured and positive meeting, at the end of the meeting the Mayor even thanked everyone for the collaborative atmosphere. I am very pleased to see this consensus and the different political parties working together. Without wishing to blow my own trumpet too much I’m very pleased to have been a key player in bringing in this change in culture.

Standout items for me where:

Biodiversity Emergency

Paul Snookes from Worcester Environment Group addressed the councillors to make the case for us to show leadership in tackling the biodiversity emergency. Fellow Green Councillor Neil Laurenson supported a motion calling for the council to declare a Biodiversity Emergency. I was very pleased to see this passed unanimously on a cross-party basis with support from all parties. A consensus is building – it’s inconceivable that that this motion would have received this much support a few years ago.

Littering

Fellow Green Councillor Marjory Bisset kicked off a debate on the possibility of introducing a hard hitting poster and PR campaign on littering. Her ideas will hopefully now be taken up by the Environment Committee.
