Interesting planning committee meeting today where we discussed buildings on the ‘At Risk’ register.
This building, now in a sorry state, was built in 1913 at farriers smithy for shoeing horses. Apparently horses were led through the horseshoe arch to have their shoes replaced. Behind this site was a blacksmith for making the shoes. It’s potentially the last building to be constructed as the first world war and the rise of the motor car meant the building rapidly became obsolete. Important to preserve our history.
